A SpeedUp was in good shape in the free practice of the French Moto2 GP, placing its two riders in the first two positions. Alonso López set a new lap record and was the leader.
When most of the riders had recorded flying laps, Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) was the leader of the timing sheet, a position he reinforced with his subsequent attempts despite being momentarily overtaken between each lap.
The British rider was actually the one who led for the longest time, about 20 minutes, before being surpassed by the championship leader, Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex). However, the American couldn’t hold on to the position.
In the last five minutes, López (Folladore SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) set a series of fast laps that left him in first place with a new lap record: 1m35.556s. He surpassed his teammate Fermín Aldeguer by 0.155s, while Roberts finished third 0.384s behind.
Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) and Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) rounded out the top five of this session, which is the only one of the Moto2 weekend where times don’t count for anything.
