Maverick Viñales arrives at the Le Mans circuit in 5th position in the championship. After a less positive result in Jerez, finishing 9th overall in Sunday’s race, the Spanish rider is looking to be back at the top of the standings.
In the debrief, the Aprilia Racing rider talked about the expectations he has for the weekend in France.
– My expectations are to bring the best performance I can, give everything in qualifying because it is very important for us. I know the pace will be there, but we need a very fast lap to have a chance to fight in the race. We are getting faster from race to race, day by day, lap by lap we will work on the details and try to be perfect and smooth in the race trajectory. I know I have the pace and if I am at the front I know I can fight for the win.
Asked about what could improve with the new regulations, Maverick replied: ‘At the moment I have no idea what will be better or worse in technical terms, nor do I really want to know, but I think the elimination of the rear device will be better for the more technical riders because we cannot accelerate fully without the device at the rear, so it will undoubtedly be better for more technical riders and will mean that the rider has more influence on lap times.’
