Álex Rins arrives at the MotoGP French Grand Prix having only scored points twice so far with Monster Energy Yamaha. One of those was in the previous round in Spain, and now he is looking to continue on the same path at the French GP in Le Mans.
After the test in Jerez, the Spanish rider explained that the new aerodynamics will not be used in Le Mans yet – although there are solutions that will be used and verified:
– Last week’s test in Jerez was a positive and interesting opportunity for us to test. We will not be riding with the new aerodynamic package in Le Mans yet, but we can work more on the electronics aspect this weekend. I am looking forward to the French GP. We will check our conclusions from the Jerez test here in Le Mans and try them out in a race setup.
At a time when Yamaha is working hard on developing the bike, Rins emphasized that they are already thinking about the private test in Mugello next week: ‘These are important and busy moments for Yamaha, so we will work systematically, step by step, to prepare for the private test in Mugello immediately after this GP‘.
With two 13th places as his best results, Rins is currently in 19th position in the championship after four rounds. He has six points, the same as Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati).
