Aprilia is a manufacturer in high demand on the MotoGP grid these days. With the recent positive results in recent seasons, it has become one of the reference manufacturers in the premier class as well as its riders.
Aleix Espargaró, in statements to Sky, spoke about this development comparing it to the times when no rider on the grid wanted to ride an Aprilia four years ago.
– It’s normal to be like this, we did a great job at Aprilia and to think that just four years ago no one wanted my bike… I hinted that this could be my last year, but I’m calm, if I want to continue at Aprilia, I can.
He also added: ‘I’m making things clear because I’m not completely convinced anymore. I feel like what I’ve done so far was good, but there are other reasons too, the calendar is getting more complicated and the weekends are getting more stressful. I’m a person without filters, I could have stayed quiet, but I said what I thought: I don’t know if I will continue. So, it’s normal for the other riders and Aprilia itself to move accordingly. Anyway, they can’t wait until the end of the season in October, it’s still an official bike and one of the best. If I leave, it will have to go to a top rider’.
