Yamaha took advantage of the year 2024 to launch one of the most beautiful motorcycles it has probably created in the last 15 years – the 2024 XSR900 GP.
And we thought that would be it for a while, but no, because retro racing fans and motorcyclists in Japan can also equip their XSR900 GP with two extra retro colors. The two extra colors are apparently only available in the Japanese market, unfortunately, and they replicate two other famous models from Yamaha’s previous range.
The rest of the bike is inspired by famous racing motorcycles from Yamaha’s long and illustrious racing history, with elements from the TZ250 and YZR500 racing bikes helping to shape the rear, front fairing, and screen.
The color scheme that we received in Europe is also inspired by racing motorcycles, being the famous red and white Marlboro look that has been so famous in many two and four-wheeled motorsports. However, these two new colors seem inspired by road motorcycles, at least road motorcycles that also had some success in racing. They are the RD500 and FZ series models. Specifically, it is the FZ models and the RD500 models from the 80s that Yamaha sought to reproduce.
We hope that the new colors will reach the European market so we can have the opportunity to acquire them.
