Portugal was in great shape this weekend and also hosted the MXGP World Championship, where Tim Gajser returned to victory in the championship in the first race of today, while Jeffrey Herlings made his debut winning in the current season. However, the one who scored the most points overall was Pauls Jonass, with a double second place.
In the first MXGP race in Águeda, this Sunday, Gajser (Team HRC) had a overwhelming performance and beat Jonass (Standing Construct Honda) by more than 40s. Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team) took the last place on the podium.
The top five was completed with the Fantic Factory Racing duo, Glenn Coldenhoff and Brian Bogers respectively.
In the second race, it was Herlings’ turn (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) to dominate the events by beating Jonass again, with the Latvian finishing 23.566s behind the Dutchman. Cornelius Toendel (Schmicker Racing) took the last place on the podium, while now it was the Kawasaki duo closing the top five, with Febvre and Jeremy Seewer in fourth and fifth.
Also noteworthy is the less positive day for Jorge Prado (Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing) 15th and 12th, and for the day’s winner, for being the most consistent, Jonass, with 44 points scored.
