Marc Márquez achieved his first podium with Ducati and Gresini by finishing second in the MotoGP Spanish GP. The eight-time world champion was even in contention for the win with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) until the end, but ultimately couldn’t overtake his rival.
Giacomo Agostini, the title record holder, is confident that the Spaniard will return to victory. In statements to DAZN, the MotoGP legend stated that Márquez just needs time with the new bike:
– He has great talent. Despite having had several issues related to accidents, I am sure he will come back. Now he just needs some time to get to know the Desmosedici, as he showed in Austin by setting the pace of the GP for some time.
The former rider has no doubt that the Spaniard is ready to return to victory: ‘He is there, he is ready to win again. The fact is that it’s not easy, because there are several young riders hungry for success‘.
Although the second place in Jerez was his first podium in the main race, Márquez had already finished in the top three in two Sprint races. Also in Spain, he led the Sprint race until he crashed near the end.
