Romano Albesiano, the chief engineer of Aprilia Racing, revealed the aspects the team worked on during the testing day at Jerez and talked about the progress of the Italian manufacturer in the last MotoGP races.
In statements, according to Paddock.gp, he spoke about the performance and the areas in which Aprilia Racing tried to improve its bike.
– ‘I am satisfied with the overall performance, but we need to be better at managing variable situations, as happened here, because we spoiled the qualifying weekend and I knew the forecast was for rain on Saturday morning in qualifying. We need to be better at managing these things. At the moment, we are having difficulties. When the weekend was stable, calm, or even completely wet, we would probably have been on the podium or fighting for the podium. Therefore, stability, consistency of performance, that’s what we need to find. The performance itself, in my opinion, is very good.’
He also added that it is important for Aprilia Racing to be prepared for more variable management or technical situations within the boxes: ‘It’s a mix of both, let’s say it’s a mix. Let’s say it’s a sum of all things. The choices, the knowledge of the bike’s reaction, and maybe the riders who adapt a little earlier. The knowledge of the tires, because, compared to other teams, we started studying the tires, but, as they say, we started a little later, so maybe we still have to catch up in certain things.’
