The Moto2 World Championship riders returned to the Jerez Ángel Nieto Circuit on Tuesday for an official testing day. Jake Dixon set the fastest time in the final of the three sessions of the day.
Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) was the fastest in the first session, completing a lap in 1m40.740s to beat Dixon (CFMoto Aspar/Kalex) by 0.146s. Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) was third fastest, 0.211s behind, followed by Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) and Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex).
In the second session, CFMoto Aspar performed well with their two riders at the front. Izan Guevara finished first, 0.125s ahead of Dixon, but neither of them could beat García’s morning time. Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) was third ahead of Arbolino and Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex).
The third and final session turned out to be the fastest. Dixon set the pace of the day with a time of 1m40.394s, beating Chantra by 0.184s. Arbolino was again one of the fastest, finishing third 0.211s behind. Rookie Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) was fourth, also setting the fourth fastest time overall in the three sessions.
The top five was completed by Zonta van den Goorberg (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) ahead of García, whose lap in the opening session would place him fifth in the combined times of the three sessions. Championship leader Joe Roberts did not participate in this testing day, nor did his team OnlyFans American Racing Team.
