Brad Binder fell in the decisive phase of the MotoGP Spanish GP qualifying session, couldn’t improve in the final minutes, and narrowly missed direct qualification for Q2: he finished in 11th place, 0.105s off the top ten.
Nevertheless, the Red Bull KTM rider ensured that he had good sensations with the bike: ‘We changed something on the front of my bike. From the morning to the second outing, I felt like I had my bike back to confidence with the front, braking, and corner entry. So, that was fantastic. And I was really fast‘.
In a session where he had good sensations, Binder ended up crashing, in an incident he explained: ‘The whole afternoon was very good. I was pushing to make sure I did a strong lap. Unfortunately, I lost the front. I just got caught a bit more by the wind, I came a bit faster than on the previous lap, clearly too much. I was a bit unlucky because of that, but in the end, it is what it is. I was very fast, and I felt good and had a good pace. So, let’s see what Saturday brings‘.
Without knowing the specific changes, #33 confirmed that they were at the fork level and important for his sensations. Furthermore, he even admitted that he had the best bike so far in 2024: ‘To be honest, this is the best I’ve had this year, except for the last outing. It was the first time I felt very good in a long time. It’s unfortunate that I made a mistake because it cost us a place in Q2. But my ideal lap time just from those first two sectors on that lap was almost 0.5s faster than the time I did. So, I think we’ll be fine‘.
