David Alonso came on strong in the Moto3 Spanish GP. After leading the free practice on Friday morning with over a second advantage, he once again stood out in front during the first practice session.
Throughout the session, the lead alternated between Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar) and Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM). Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) also had the fastest time at some points.
In fact, it was the Australian who lost the lead when Alonso set the best time of the day – 1m43.710s. It is also a new Moto3 lap record at the Jerez circuit. With that, the Colombian was 0.969s faster than Roulstone.
In third place was Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) already over a minute behind the leader, while championship leader Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) finished fourth. The top five was completed by David Almansa (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda).
