The Spanish Moto3 GP started, with David Alonso setting the fastest time of Friday’s free practice session. The Colombian was the only one to lap in the 1m44s this morning.
Although it was Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar) who set the first timed lap, after the first few laps the leader was Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda). Throughout the first 12 minutes, the lead changes were constant, with Alonso returning to the top at various moments.
Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) and Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) also took turns leading. With almost a quarter of an hour completed, Alonso took the lead and never let go. However, he still improved his time three more times. He lapped twice in the 1m44s, to finish with the best time in 1m44.590s.
In second place was David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM), who was 1.079s slower. Fernández finished third, while the top five was rounded out by Kelso and Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM). Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), the championship leader, set the 12th fastest time. Still recovering from an appendix surgery performed two weeks ago, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) is registered, but did not go out on track during this session.
