It is a very confident Brad Binder who will race in the Spanish GP, as the rider feels fully recovered from the foot injury that limited him in the Americas. On a track traditionally good for his bike, Binder is sure he will do better this time.
The KTM rider started by saying in the preview of the weekend on Spanish soil: ‘Jerez will be a good weekend for us, last year was very good here and I think we are in a much better position than last year. I am looking forward to starting, happy to be here and feeling much better than last weekend’.
Looking back at what he did in the previous three rounds, the South African recalled: ‘For me it’s very simple: In Qatar it wasn’t bad for sure, two second places which I was quite happy with, in Portimão I was struggling a bit to pass in the front, that was my biggest issue and I crashed in the Sprint, then in the main race I also didn’t have much feeling in the front, just needed to finish and ended up fourth. Then I broke my foot during the week and that made COTA very difficult, so I’m sure we will be fine this weekend’.
Physically, he assured, it was difficult to do better in the Americas in the conditions he was in: ‘It didn’t help. What happens is that every time you press on the pedal or change direction or try to use the rear brake it’s not working well and still, it was difficult for me. Overall, it didn’t help me at all to have crashed in Q1, to have started in 17th… made things much harder. Things are as they are and the races have passed, so I’m sure this one will be better’.
