This weekend Le Mans hosted the legendary 24 Hours race, counting towards the Endurance World Championship (EWC), which culminated with Yoshimura SERT Motul as the big winner, on a day that was also marked by Pedro Nuno, who finished in seventh place in the overall standings.
The winner of the 24H of Le Mans was Yoshimura SERT Motul, with Gregg Black, Etienne Masson, Dan Linfoot, and Cocoro Atsumi, who finished the competition faster than any other team with a one lap difference over BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team (Reiterberger, Mikhalchik, Guintoli), while YART – Yamaha (Canepa, Fritz, Hanika) finished in the last place on the podium, five laps behind the winners.
But don’t think that the team’s life, with the Suzuki GSXR 1000, was easy, as they faced some unexpected events and had to recover ground after a fall by Black, which forced the team to extra work, both in the garage and on the track, having to climb several positions.
In the end, they managed to conquer the victory with an epic recovery and thus add the 15th triumph at the legendary circuit.
In terms of the overall championship standings, Yoshimura SERT Motul leads with 61 points, nine more than YART – Yamaha, while BMW is third with 51.
Pedro Nuno shining!
One of the highlights of the race was Portuguese Pedro Nuno who finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Team Bolliger Switzerland #8 in seventh place in the overall classification with a total of 837 laps completed, a difference of 20 to Yoshimura SERT Motul.
In addition to the seventh place, Pedro Nuno together with Nico Thöni and Alex Toledo, his teammates, finished sixth in their class (EWC).
