The bikes we used for this 11th edition of Our Dakar were the BMW R1300GS, and now we had the opportunity to put them to the test. We went to the official presentation in Malaga where there was a good off-road section, but it was during these three days of the event that we truly had the opportunity to test them. We covered 410 kilometers, mostly off-road, where not only did we keep up with all the bikes with (naturally) lower displacement, but most of the time we passed them effortlessly.
The advantages of this new GS off-road are evident much by being lighter and above all narrower and more agile. Compared to the previous 1250 version, it is simply a motorcycle that is easier to ride and faster in all situations, but especially when cornering. The completely new chassis makes the motorcycle stiffer and allows for much control in all situations. And what amazed me the most was the ability to correct the trajectory within the curve itself.
We also had the opportunity to see the F 900 GS in action by the BMW Motorrad team present, but we will only get our hands on it at the end of February, at the official media presentation.
SUMMARY
In summary, and returning to the event itself, we have already congratulated the organization for what was perhaps the most well-organized edition of the 11 already held. On Friday, there were 51 kilometers connecting Odemira to Lagos, on Saturday we took a circular route that started and ended at the Hotel Vila Galé in Lagos, and on the third day (Sunday) we did 124 km from Lagos to Almodôvar, where we were greeted with a final event lunch that left us wanting to do more kilometers.
