The Spanish rider, who won the Superpole race in the morning, was leading the race in the Netherlands with Andrea Locatelli and Nicolò Bulega as his main pursuers. Further back was Scott Redding, who crashed dramatically at turn 17. After three laps, Remy Gardner continued to show the promising signs he had shown so far and was in second place, ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu, determined to “save” the Sunday after a Superpole where he could only manage ninth place. Here’s #WorldSBK RACE 2! 🤩

It didn’t take long for Razgatlioglu to overtake the Australian and, one lap later, he didn’t stop there: he set his sights on Bautista in first place and beat the world champion!

Gardner’s problems didn’t stop there, as he was soon overtaken by Andrea Locatelli, but he would respond later and regain the third place.
The two continued to battle lap after lap, overtaking each other while another rivalry emerged on the track: Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes, former teammates, collided and both went down. Rea, however, got up and re-entered the track.
Andrea Iannone joined the battle for the podium positions and was getting closer and closer to Locatelli.
The race was quickly approaching the end and the winner was uncertain, with Razgatlioglu and Bautista very close with two laps to go:

Until the end the battle between them continued but there was no way to beat Razgatlioglu who made history with BMW by giving the manufacturer its first victory in Assen. This was the 950th race of the WSBK, with the Turk continuing to make history, on a day that Gardner will hardly forget, as he also debuted on the Superbike podium by finishing third.
