The duel has been recurring: in the first three rounds of the year, Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) and rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) have met on track and fought for top positions in the races.
A battle that Dennis Noyes believes will be seen again. After the MotoGP GP of the Americas, the American stated on the podcast Cinta Americana:
– I was crouched behind with a lot of tension until Marc’s crash. It was very clear to me that it was not going to be an equal duel between Marc and Pedro Acosta. Pedro is having an incredible season, but at that moment Pedro did not have the necessary pace to keep up with the rhythm that Marc seemed to have at that moment. I expect a new duel between the two.
In Austin, Márquez crashed while leading, unable to resist a brake problem. Acosta, on the other hand, stayed in the fight for top positions until the end, finishing in second place – his second consecutive podium.
So far, the rookie has only been unable to beat Márquez in the Qatar GP, after losing pace in the final laps with a worn tire. However, it is certain that in Portugal and in the GP of the Americas, he benefited from incidents involving the eight-time world champion.
