With 25 points accumulated so far in the championship Fabio Di Giannantonio had some problems in this GP of the Americas, once again with the Sprint races affecting his confidence for the following day, but they did not prevent him from achieving his best position so far this season.
Looking at his performance, the Italian who races for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team recalled the misfortune of the previous day and that Sunday did not start in the best way, as he explained after the race, although he finished with good sensations and a highly competitive position: ‘I am very happy. I think I did about five laps in total in the three Sprints this year and without having information from the Sprint it is always difficult to have a good GP race at the MotoGP level. Also in the Warm Up I was not very happy with the sensations, so I arrived at the race thinking: “OK, let’s give our best and see what happens”. But the race was very good, honestly’.
And he continued: ‘The start went well, but the first corner was not so good, then I made some good overtakes on guys who are strong on braking, like Jack [Miller] and [Franco] Morbidelli. So, I liked that. After that, I was going quite fast, I had a decent pace. But it wasn’t enough to reach the front. But I’m happy. We go home with a third top 10, this time it’s a top 6’.
He believes that he is growing and improving continuously: ‘We are getting closer and closer, and with the team we also know each other more and more’.
