Ducati currently has three satellite teams in MotoGP, more than any other manufacturer. In total, they have eight bikes on track, plus the reserve bikes for each rider, totaling 16. However, despite the effort involved, they do not want to change their satellite team lineup.
Currently, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and Prima Pramac Racing are nearing the end of their contracts with Ducati. In both cases, there may be a renewal with the exercise of clauses by the teams, but they have not been exercised yet. There is also alleged interest from other manufacturers in securing them as satellite teams, namely KTM and Yamaha.
But, as far as Ducati’s intentions go, everything will stay as it is. This was stated by sports director Mauro Grassilli, quoted by the website paddock-gp.com: ‘We have opened discussions with VR46 and Pramac. Our goal is to maintain the current configuration for the future. I wish for Pramac and VR46 to stay next year and for the years to come‘.
Yamaha has already confirmed, through their team manager Lin Jarvis, that they are approaching VR46 and Pramac. From VR46’s side, director Uccio Salucci has already admitted that ‘change is not easy‘ considering the competitiveness of each manufacturer. On Pramac’s side, team director Gino Borsoi also aims for continuity with Ducati.
