One of the great legends of American motorcycling was Kevin Schwantz – who has a title in the premier class, 500cc. He is still seen as a reference by many of the younger generations of riders, despite retiring in 1995.
At a press conference, Marc Márquez was asked about his thoughts on the former rider, and highlighted the personality and riding style of the American:
– I’ve said it in previous years. He has his own personality, his own riding style, and it was amazing to watch him. Obviously, I didn’t see him live, but I’ve watched him several times.
The Spaniard admitted to being a fan of Schwantz’s riding style, considering that it’s not the achievements that most remind him of the former rider: ‘It’s this kind of riders that you remember more about what he did than the titles, because in the end it was just one title. But he was a spectacle on the track, he always attacked at 100 percent and I love this riding style‘.
