After an Americas GP with positive results for most Ducati riders, with two podiums in the Sprint race and one in Sunday’s race by Enea Bastianini, Gigi Dall’Igna commented on the performance of his riders throughout the weekend at COTA.
In statements, according to Moto.it, the director of the Ducati Lenovo Team spoke about the performance of the reigning champion, Francesco Bagnaia, during the weekend.
– ‘Pecco’s race had a completely different taste: unlike Enea, he had a good start in the first third of the race, but then his pace became less effective, so he had to defend to secure fifth place, which certainly did not satisfy him. A very weak performance between Sprint and GP, without a podium, and a weekend to let pass, keeping in mind the next challenge’.
The Italian also added, speaking about the performance of teammate Enea Bastianini: ‘For Enea, this is an important podium, confirming him among the protagonists on the track, race after race, with a consistency that is slowly recovering. It was the first Ducati under the checkered flag, with a finish that, after an uncertain start, came in crescendo, now putting him in second place in the championship standings. What he needed was more continuity, and this is another essential step in the right direction.’
