Marc Márquez abandoned the MotoGP Americas GP after a crash while leading, and up to that moment had always been in the fight for the podium. The front brakes are said to have been the cause of the incident, due to an unexpected problem.
Óscar Haro commented on the matter on Nico Abad’s YouTube channel, explaining what may have happened – with the condition of the track itself possibly having an influence:
– I don’t know what may have happened with the brakes at Gresini. Marc brakes, lowers the lever and he brakes quickly two or three times for the pump to build pressure, but he’s already leaned over and without brakes. So, the first bite that the disc makes with the direction already leaned and on a bumpy track, because it’s a circuit that is bumpy, causes the direction to close and you lose control.
The former director of LCR Honda emphasized that there is no blame to be attributed to Márquez: ‘It’s not a mistake by Marc, it’s a mechanical failure that exists in all bikes and doesn’t happen with them. That gesture with the brake is very quick‘.
This is the second consecutive round in which Márquez has fallen while fighting for top positions. The Spanish rider is currently in eighth place, having finished in second place in the last two Sprint races.
