After a very complicated Americas GP, Honda returns to the tracks in a few days. This week, there will be a private test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which will host the Catalunya GP in less than two months.
This will be a test with the main team riders, Joan Mir and Luca Marini. The 2020 champion revealed that he will be riding on Friday, emphasizing the importance of this test: ‘We have an important test in Montmeló, and then in Jerez we will have another. There we will understand if we have taken a step forward by mid-season‘.
In two weeks, there will be an official test in Jerez after the Spanish GP at the same circuit. The rider from Palma de Mallorca admitted that Honda is not on the right track and has many problems, while Marini considers that the direction is very clear, but there are difficulties ‘everywhere‘.
This round in Austin was one of the lowest points in Honda’s history in MotoGP: only Marini finished the main race, crossing the finish line in 16th place – he was the last to finish. The same happened in the Sprint race, but there the Italian finished 17th. The Honda riders were also the last four in qualifying and practice, showing that there is a lot of work to be done to turn things around.
