This is certainly a race weekend that will not serve as motivation for Brad Binder’s future, as he is already looking forward to racing ‘anywhere’ other than Austin. Looking ahead to Jerez, the rider believes it will be better, also recalling some problems he had with the bike at the American circuit.
After a tough round, the South African was asked if the presence at the next GP in Jerez – one of the best of last season – could serve as a good way to recover, stating: ‘Right now I’m happy to go anywhere. To be honest, it looks terrible on paper, but things weren’t that bad and we’ll be back where we usually are next week’.
Regarding the strategy, looking back, #33 added: ‘We had a tough day. We’ve been playing around a lot with the setup, trying to find a good balance, but I think we played around too much this weekend. We made crucial mistakes in crucial parts of the weekend that didn’t help us here’, he added:
– The bike pulls to one direction, especially on the straights, it’s quite unstable and we have to turn to the opposite side and when we lost all the rear wing, we didn’t have downforce to set up the bike. After that, it’s really hard to manage.
