Brad Binder said goodbye to the Americas GP with a ninth place finish and considered this weekend, in general terms, very difficult and with two unexpected problems adding to the challenges.
The KTM rider spoke about his race and revealed the problems he faced early on: ‘This was a fantastic race, really. It was a fantastic start and that is the positive point of today. On the sighting lap, the others were riding far from me because my rear tire wasn’t working, I couldn’t get it to work and I lined up on the grid like that without knowing what would happen. I got to turn one, tried to go around the outside but there was a problem on the inside and someone touched me and broke the rear wing and I had to do 20 laps at COTA with two less wings, which was chaotic… It wasn’t a good day, or a good weekend and honestly we had things going wrong at bad times, but they weren’t that bad but ended up being’.
The problem with the tire, he explained later, is not usual and brought additional challenges: ‘It was the first time it happened to me – to have the problems I had with the tire. Sometimes the tire from the previous day takes a while to “appear” but it’s not usual, I was very unlucky with that’.
Binder thus concluded the weekend in Austin with seven points scored.
