After saying that both Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín were smarter than him, Pedro Acosta made a curious comparison about what happened and how it will be even better in the future. Still, he is satisfied with the overall classification.
‘It hurts because I think that those who come here do not come to lose. In the end, this is like love, it has to hurt to improve and it won’t improve until tomorrow [today]. Márquez and Jorge were better than me. Maybe following the Ducati line made us use a little more rubber. But overall, we were there,’ said the GASGAS Tech3 rider, before continuing: ‘It was the first day we did a qualifying and a start in proper conditions, and we were in real podium positions. So, little by little, we are getting to where we want to be.’
He also looked at his own performance, seeing positive signs and recalling part of what happened last season: ‘I was never very explosive, but little by little we are improving. Last year, in Moto2, I improved a lot because I did almost all the races in the front row. But not many poles. It is true that maybe having much softer tires than I had in Moto3 and Moto2 helped a lot. Changing the bike setup or the whole bike as well. So, little by little, we are covering all areas.’
Acosta again highlighted the idea that opponents are more experienced and said he took notes on who was in the lead.
– In the end, they are people who know everything, right? How many years has Martín been here at the World Championship? How many years has Marc been here? People aren’t stupid here, are they? […] I take my notebook, write down the license plates and keep them all in my pocket. I noted all the ones in front of me. But well, we have to be happy that the overtaking with Jorge and Marc happened this Saturday, and not on Sunday, because I already noted everything.
