Fabio Quartararo finished 15th in the MotoGP Americas Grand Prix Sprint race held yesterday. A secondary result, as the focus was on testing solutions for the bike.
The Monster Energy Yamaha rider revealed after yesterday’s race in Austin: ‘This weekend, every session we did, I was trying something big on the bike – even for the Sprint race we just went out on track with a bike we had never used before. And I think it’s very good in the position we are now to try big things. Finishing 13th or 15th won’t really change anything for us and I think the way we are working is good, even if the results don’t show anything. But we are trying things we have never done in the past‘.
In the warm-up, Quartararo will test other solutions on the YZR-M1, emphasizing that in Yamaha’s current situation there cannot be a conservative approach… and the tests are being carried out:
– I think on Sunday morning we will try something new again on the bike and if we have an idea for the race, we will also try it, I believe. It doesn’t make sense to be conservative in the position we are in now. And I think by doing these things we have a lot of direction to see – especially changing the bike up, down, front, rear, and I think we made more changes in one session than in the whole of last year. It’s a bit difficult, but I think it’s the right path to find… I won’t say the right direction, but at least some positive ideas to bring for the future.
Questioned about how difficult it is not to lose track as a rider in a context of so many changes in the bike, the Frenchman replied: ‘We don’t have a satellite team yet, so basically we have to do the work. We have two bikes and we have to make the most of what we can and make the most changes‘.
