Fermín Aldeguer dominated the practices, but in qualifying it was Arón Canet who secured pole position for the Moto2 Americas GP. However, he couldn’t beat the record lap of Austin set by his compatriot.
The surprise leader was Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex), but Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) dethroned him with his second flying lap.
The current championship leader held the position for about five minutes, until he was surpassed by Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro)… who, shortly after, saw Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) set the fastest time.
Just before the end, Canet completed his last lap in 2m07.631s to secure pole position, beating Aldeguer by 0.109s. García dropped to third place, finishing 0.188s behind.
Albert Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) achieved fourth position on the starting grid, while the home rider, Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) will start from fifth – ahead of teammate Marcos Ramírez.
