After the first day of the Americas MotoGP Grand Prix, Joan Mir admitted that Honda did not go in the right direction in developing the bike – needing time to turn the situation around.
For his part, the rider from Palma de Mallorca assured that he will not give up: ‘As a rider I feel strong, I am making an effort, I don’t give up. But at this moment we have a limit there and the situation is what it is‘.
At the end of April there is a test day in Jerez after the Spanish GP. Can the problems be mitigated by then? ‘I don’t know. I really hope so, but I’m not sure. I think it’s more of a no than a yes‘, Mir replied.
At this point, Honda is the only manufacturer that has not yet reached double digits in the MotoGP World Championship, being in last place. Repsol Honda and the LCR Honda satellite team are in the last two positions in the team championship.
As for Mir, he started the season with two points finishes – he was 13th in the Qatar GP and slightly improved to 12th in Portimão, in a round where he ended up benefiting from opponents’ crashes.
