Just as he had done in practice, David Alonso was the strongest in qualifying for the Moto3 Americas GP. It is the first pole position for the rider, who was unable to beat his own record in Austin.
The first leader of the session was the inevitable David Alonso (CFMoto Valresa Aspar), who after the first flying laps had a 0.156s advantage over José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo). However, there was still plenty of time left in the session.
The Spaniard was subsequently overtaken by Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), dropping to third, while Alonso solidified his lead position with a lead of over two tenths.
After the riders went through the pits, in the last three minutes the final attacks on the clock began. With his last lap, Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) took the lead.
However, other riders were on fast laps… including Alonso, who ultimately finished in the lead, securing the pole position. Rueda finished second by 0.017s, with Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) in third. Veijer finished fourth, with Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) fifth and Roulstone sixth.
