If there were any doubts, David Alonso dispelled them by being the fastest in the second Moto3 practice session of the Americas GP. The CFMoto Valresa Aspar rider once again dominated this morning in Austin.
After the first laps, the Colombian was already in the lead, and he stayed there until he was surpassed by Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) with 26 minutes completed.
However, Alonso responded immediately with the best time: 2m14.153s, beating the Spaniard by 0.384s. Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) was the second fastest, with a time equal to Ortolá’s.
Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) completed the top five. All riders set their best times in this session, which determined the qualifiers directly for the second qualifying session.
In 14th, Stefano Nepa (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) was the last to secure a spot in Q2, leaving Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) out in 15th by just 0.088s. Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) was declared unfit after yesterday’s accident in practice, so he will not return to action this weekend in Austin.
