Aleix Espargaró has never been so happy in his life. It was the rider himself who said so, at a time when his future at Aprilia or even in the MotoGP class, in general, is being debated. The ‘Captain’ of Aprilia is not “just” that as he sees himself in a certain way… as a King.
Speaking to the press in Austin, Espargaró did not hide his current state of joy: ‘I think that, from the first quarter of 2024, I can tell you that I have never been so happy in my life. So, I am more serene, calmer. And whatever will be, will be. I am not worried at all. In the end, we have to be serene with ourselves. I realized that in my country I am very lucky and I value that a lot. So, if it is here, I know I will be fine at home. And if I am fast here, I will continue; I am very happy with Aprilia, I am the King of Aprilia. So, it is just a matter of keeping calm and enjoying’.
The #41 also recalled his strong relationship with some of the most important people at Aprilia, with one in particular in mind: ‘I have a very good relationship with Massimo [Rivola], and I think they said they will be the last to close, that they are happy with the riders they have’.
And he continued: ‘But since I took Aprilia in 2017 until where I will leave it in 2024, I continue to be the only rider who has won three races, who has fought for the world title, who has convinced to bring a top rider… I cannot do more for Aprilia. So, I deserve that respect and I have no doubts that it exists’.
