The Moto3 GP of the Americas training did not start well for the MT Helmets-MSi riders, who suffered a crash following a touch between them in the first few minutes.
The incident occurred at turn 11 of the Austin circuit. Ryusei Yamanaka was following behind and tried to overtake Iván Ortolá, but lost control of the KTM and fell… taking out his teammate in the process.
Despite a reckless approach by making an unnecessary pass at a certain time and place, Yamanaka did not have malicious intent in the incident. Ortolá came out with some physical complaints.
However, both returned to action a few minutes later and the Spanish rider was even one of the fastest: he finished in fifth place, about half a second off the top.
