Raúl Fernández arrives at the GP of the Americas without scoring any points in the championship so far. The Spanish rider admitted to making a rookie mistake at the Portimão circuit that ended up costing him the race and once again finishing the weekend without points.
In the debrief, the Trackhouse Racing Team driver talked about the importance of competing at the American team’s “home” and the expectations he has for the GP of the Americas.
– ‘It’s great to be here again. It was a very good experience with Trackhouse these days in the USA, it was a great experience with the guys from the NASCAR team. In the first races, I didn’t feel good and the bike wasn’t on the right path and it wasn’t what we wanted, because of these kind of problems I lost some confidence. I think this weekend will be good for us because I have the bike with the normal setup and I’m happy because we understood the problem and solved it. The problem was the bike’s setup and technical issues, I had to ride the second bike and I didn’t feel very comfortable. Now we understand what the problem was and we arrived here with the bike prepared to be competitive.’
Asked about the “American” differences in the Trackhouse team this year, Raul replied: ‘Regarding my mechanics, they are the same as last year, but in terms of management and directors, there have been some changes. I like their new mentality in terms of marketing and how they manage the team, it’s better. When we put on the helmet, there are no faces, it’s a team, I think I have an incredible team.’
