Last week, Fabio Quartararo renewed with Monster Energy Yamaha in MotoGP until 2026. There are rumors about an alleged offer from Aprilia and the rider himself did not confirm it, but admitted to having spoken with the Noale manufacturer.
One of the current riders on the Italian team is Aleix Espargaró, who is at the end of his contract at 34 years old. When asked about this supposed interest from Aprilia in Quartararo, the Spanish rider replied:
– It’s normal, Fabio is one of the best riders, if not the best, in terms of talent, and young, in the paddock. It’s normal for Aprilia to talk to him, but what Aprilia told me was that Aprilia never made him an offer. But we will never know – only Aprilia and Fabio know.
With or without an offer presented to Quartararo, Espargaró assured that he has no problems: ‘I can perfectly understand – he is a young rider, both Aprilia riders end their contract this year, he ends his contract. Massimo’s [Rivola, team’s executive director] job is to talk to everyone. There’s no problem with that‘.
