Jorge Martín is leading the MotoGP World Championship ahead of this weekend’s GP of the Americas. In 2023, it was one of the rounds where he had the most difficulties, so the Prima Pramac Racing rider expects a much different scenario for the better.
The Spaniard stated in a press conference: ‘I am very happy with the start of the season so far. I think we are doing a great job. I believe our goal is to be better than in previous years – not just here. But I had many difficulties at this track last season and my main goal is to improve every year. Let’s see.’
That said, Martín acknowledged that it will not be an easy round, but he hopes to be at the top: ‘It will be a big challenge because there are many strong opponents for this weekend. But I feel confident, I think we are doing a great job and I am in good physical condition – which is very important here, last season I remember I had some fever with antibiotics, I had many difficulties. So, I hope to be one of the best.’
Asked whether his recent participation in a cycling race was specifically aimed at preparing for the GP of the Americas, the 2023 runner-up replied:
– We had these two weeks to rest and train and we decided to do this mountain biking race. I really enjoyed it. I think it was a little vacation, but with a lot of training. I believe it is also important for the mental aspect to disconnect a bit. It’s not just for this race, it’s for the whole season, it’s always important to maintain this base training and always be in good shape.’
