It was a very confident Jack Miller who is ready for the Americas GP, ready to face one of his favorite tracks on the calendar and, at the same time, one of the most physically demanding.
‘I’m looking forward to riding here, one of my favorite tracks and events on the calendar, and I hope to have a good weekend. Portimão was a step in the right direction, so I hope we can try to take the same step again, and we should come here for a good result’, the KTM rider told journalists.
Asked if he could explain why COTA is not usually the best track for KTM, the Australian replied: ‘Last year was, I think, my third race with the bike. We were comfortably sitting among the podium places until I crashed. We had a bit of a tough Saturday last year, with a bike issue, but definitely where we are now in terms of engine braking, strategy, and things like that, I think the statistics don’t account for that. I think the bike will be very competitive this weekend and we should be able to put on a good show’.
He then went on to say that, ‘in physical terms’, this track is on the calendar, adding: ‘At the top! At the top, I think… If you ask most people, this is probably one of the most physical Grand Prix races of the year, just the amount of direction changes here, braking, speed changes, all of that is pretty brutal’.
