Aron Canet was the protagonist of the Portuguese GP and is the leader of the Moto2 world championship after his first-ever victory in his career in the intermediate class of MotoGP.
The rider, in statements to Paddock.gp, talked about the difficulties he had to overcome to get where he is and the meaning that the ribbon that always accompanies him in the world races symbolizes.
– ‘When I was 20 years old and people looked at me negatively, calling me a gangster because of my tattoos and piercings. That’s why I put on this ribbon to show that, with tattoos, piercings, or even yellow hair, we are not worse than others and that we can still be good people. In a way, I would like to defend everyone who is discriminated against because of their physical appearance.’
He also explained what caught his attention the most in this new project with the Fantic Racing team: ‘Entering Fantic Racing changed me more than I thought. I found a very pleasant environment, I would even say a family that never doubted me. Roberto Locatelli, project leader, Stefano Bedon and Jairo Carriles, team leader, encourage me to give my best and work hard for me. We have already won in Portugal and I am convinced that we can achieve more success this season.’
