Monster Energy Yamaha continues to be far from the results it wants in MotoGP, but it is with motivation that it faces this weekend’s GP of the Americas. Álex Rins was the winner in Austin last year, while Fabio Quartararo recently announced the extension with the Iwata constructor until 2026.
Team director Massimo Meregalli began by stating in a press release that the cancellation of the private test in Portimão requires the recovery of lost work time:
– We were very disappointed to be forced to cancel the Portimão private test due to heavy rain. But it didn’t make sense to put our riders at risk in those treacherous conditions. However, this means we need to make up for the lost track time.
Regarding the GP of the Americas, the Italian highlighted the optimism that exists: ‘COTA is not the easiest circuit, but we are optimistic about this round. Our riders like the circuit and have scored well here in the past, and the team also always enjoys the atmosphere on this competition weekend‘.
Finally, Meregalli spoke about the motivation within Yamaha after Quartararo’s renewal: ‘With Fabio announcing his stay, the mood in the team is positive. We are all motivated to work, so we are looking forward to starting the rodeo in Austin‘.
