The RNF MotoGP Team ceased activity last year, in a controversial manner and after only one season of partnership with CryptoDATA – which still maintains legal actions against Dorna due to the way it lost its place in the grid.
The problems throughout 2023 were numerous and serious, particularly at the financial level despite CryptoDATA’s apparent ability to invest. Now, former RNF owner Razlan Razali has spoken out about the situation in statements to Crash.net, making new revelations:
– For the first race of Austria, as a sponsor of the event in 2022, they had paid everything to Dorna, in a short period. So, they seemed to have money and kept telling us: ‘Money is not a problem.’ And suddenly it became a problem. I’m not saying they did something wrong or anything, just that in my opinion they did not fulfill their obligations. I would go to a competition weekend with virtually zero balance in the account, for example. That’s not the way to manage a MotoGP team. Every week I would ask, ‘when is the next payment coming?’
The Malaysian businessman admitted that the team holding on until the end of the season was a surprise. And, regarding management, he emphasized that control was with CryptoDATA: ‘Regardless of internal problems, in the end they are the majority shareholder of 60 percent of the company. They can do whatever they want. They can fire me if they want. But being effectively expelled from the championship, says something’.
