After abandoning the Portuguese GP due to a crash while fighting for fifth place near the end, Francesco Bagnaia arrives at the MotoGP Americas GP. Last year, he suffered a retirement in Austin after dominating, which prevented him from adding a victory… for which he will now have a new chance to fight for.
The two-time world champion mentioned that this is a round he enjoys, wanting to correct his mistake from 2023: ‘The Americas GP is one of my favorites on the calendar: the track is fantastic, I really like Austin and even the event atmosphere is different. I arrive in America motivated and prepared to redeem myself: last year we were competitive all weekend and, if I hadn’t crashed, we would have also won the Sunday race‘.
Expecting strong competition once again, Bagnaia now wants to avoid a drop in performance in the main race like what happened in March in Portugal:
– I expect several fast riders this year, and it will definitely be challenging, but we have a good base to start with. In the last GP in Portugal, the feeling with the bike was very good, but then in the Sunday race, we lacked something. Therefore, it will be important to work to prevent that from happening again.
