In Qatar and in Portugal, Vicente Pérez was one of the riders for Red Bull KTM Ajo in Moto3. The 26-year-old rider was able to return to the category, where he was full-time in 2018 and 2019, but only as a substitute for Xabi Zurutuza.
Yesterday, April 7, the rookie turned 18 years old – meeting the minimum age requirement to compete in world championships. As a result, he will finally be able to make his debut at the Americas GP next weekend.
Exceptions to this age rule are allowed – those who are 17 years old and hold the title of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup can participate in the World Championship. Zurutuza is only now going to participate in Grand Prix races, but he was able to get to know the bike during pre-season testing.
The young rider competed in the last two seasons of the FIM JuniorGP, where he achieved two victories. He also competed in the European Talent Cup in 2021, managing to finish third. He is also the Spanish champion in the 250cc Supermotard category, a title he won in 2019.
