The Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix was far from easy for Johann Zarco, who could only manage 15th place in the main race. Despite this, the LCR Honda rider continues to have faith in the work done by Honda, taking the experience gained from the second round of the season.
The Frenchman explained: ‘I really trust Honda. I see that they are working so hard and, at least step by step, we know what is not good to do. Maybe we still don’t know what is good to do, but the more kilometers we do, the more we know what is not working. So, it can always be useful to progress‘.
The Portuguese GP fell short of Zarco’s expectations, who mainly takes away the experience gained: ‘I expected something good in Portugal, I couldn’t achieve it. I gain more experience, but I couldn’t really get satisfaction in the feeling, so it wasn’t a weekend where I could enjoy much‘.
#5 considers that Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) had a good performance considering the conditions, but reiterated his disappointment with the race in Portimão for himself:
– Joan Mir kind of had a good race with the bike we had, because he managed to be very consistent and thanks to that consistency he overtook the front riders. And I couldn’t do anything, so I was struggling and I was very lucky to have some crashes at the end to at least grab a point and feel like I didn’t do the whole weekend for nothing. It’s simply like a psychological satisfaction.
