The last place on the podium achieved two weeks ago at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in the Moto3 Portuguese GP tasted like a first place for Ivan Ortolá.
‘I removed a thorn that was stuck from Qatar,’ said the MT Helmets-MSi rider to DAZN quoted by Motosan. In the first Moto3 race in Losail, he finished in ninth place.
‘It was a difficult race in terms of tires, since from the seventh or eighth lap I almost ran out of them and in the last five laps it was almost impossible. For me, this podium tasted like a victory because we were supposed to be sixth or seventh. We knew how to manage and we were able to attack as we did and in the end we reached the podium,’ he recalled.
‘The team was key for things to work. Experience also makes a big difference, in my case, experience was more noticeable than anything else.’
Ortolá has 23 points in Moto3, in a category led by Daniel Holgado.
