After leaving Suzuki, Davide Brivio ventured into Formula 1, joining Alpine as Director of Race Expansion Projects, and now, after three years, he is back in MotoGP with Trackhouse Racing, a team with experience in four-wheel championships, in NASCAR. Brivio analyzed some differences between the categories and revealed that ‘in Formula 1, companies race, in MotoGP teams race’.
The Team Principal of the American team, a satellite of Aprilia, spoke to MotoSprint about his time away from MotoGP, but he assures that he still loves the sport: ‘Certainly. A lot, otherwise I would stay at home. In my career, I took many flights, I will gladly do it again. My passion for my work remains intact, in fact, I would define it as having grown and consolidated even more. If that were not the case, I would probably do something else.’
Then, he made a curious comparison about how the brands in each category present themselves on the track, the difference in their competitiveness in F1 and MotoGP: ‘In Formula 1, companies race, in MotoGP teams race. Four-wheeled vehicles have enormous economic and human resources because, logically, the car is bigger than a two-wheeled vehicle. Many people work on the car and almost all parts are produced internally, except for tires, brakes, and little else. Between hybrid power units and aerodynamic sections, we never stop intervening.’
In Formula 1, there is also a significant investment from various sides: ‘The game requires large resources, a large number of engineers, separate but interconnected departments. If we quantify the differences, they are significant’.
