With over a decade of experience in MotoGP, Marc Márquez is already one of the oldest riders in the current grid. In addition to his many achievements, he has also faced adverse moments, particularly since 2020 with complicated injuries and the drop in performance of Repsol Honda – which led him to move to Gresini this year.
The #93 said in a press conference that he has become more conservative over the years: ‘I have more experience, but one of the things when I was younger is that you are not aware of what you are doing and sometimes things go well. Now I am a bit more conservative in some aspects, but using more experience‘.
One thing that Márquez rules out is being faster than in the past: ‘In the end, some people say: “After the injury he will be stronger, with more years he will be stronger.” I will not be faster than in the past, because when you are younger you have that extra. But of course you can use a bit more experience and you have to use that experience‘.
The Spaniard hopes to maintain his current trajectory, with a calm attitude, but acknowledged that mistakes will happen: ‘I will make mistakes because we are human and we are the only ones who will make the same mistake twice. We will see if we can continue in this way and it is obvious to try to understand or learn from the top riders within the Ducati team‘.
