Pedro Acosta is impressing in his debut season in MotoGP and, before the next Grand Prix, he was this week a guest on one of the most prestigious TV shows in Spain – El Hormiguero.
And to reach the premier category, the rider did not fail to see his family sacrifice themselves, making sure to acknowledge it: ‘If they hadn’t done all that, I wouldn’t be here, I would be fishing with my father. Thanks to them, that childhood dream became a reality‘.
If his sporting success depends on his dedication, Acosta believes that his career is owed to his family: ‘All this that is happening to me is not because of me, because I trained or because I am very good, but because of them, who risked their lives, jobs, and home for a child who had a dream. Therefore, everything I am today is thanks to them‘.
Currently 19 years old, the Spanish rider from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 has already had a long trajectory in motorcycling. His first international race was in the European Talent Cup in Valencia in the 2017 season, followed by the FIM CEV Moto3 (now FIM JuniorGP), then the Red Bull Rookies Cup and, finally, entry into the world championships in Moto3 in 2021.
Wherever he has been, Acosta has always achieved success, as demonstrated by his third place in the FIM CEV Moto3 in 2020 or his dominating season in the Rookies Cup that led to the 2020 title with six victories and three other podiums in 12 races. In the World Championships, he only needed one year to become Moto3 champion, then spent two seasons before adding the Moto2 title.
