Miguel Oliveira arrived at the MotoGP World Championship in 2019, after nearly a decade in the paddock between 125cc, Moto3, and Moto2. And, five years later, he still has his idols and references, as is natural for any athlete.
In a short video posted on MotoGP’s social media, #88 talked about the athlete who inspires him the most… and whom he has faced in MotoGP: ‘Valentino Rossi. The first reason why I really watch motorcycles is because of him‘.
As for his non-sporting idol, Oliveira mentioned a person who is very close to him and always accompanies him: ‘My father was also the reason why I got on a bike. So, he has been my hero since I was a child‘.
This year, the Portuguese rider competes for Trackhouse Racing and rides an Aprilia. With five victories already in his career, he is currently going through a rough patch in terms of performance, not stepping onto the podium since 2022.
Just over a week ago, Oliveira finished ninth in the Portuguese GP – which was his best result since the middle of last year and his first top ten finish since the San Marino GP in September 2023.
