The subject has already been clarified thoroughly, but if necessary, Carmelo Ezpeleta made it even clearer – despite Liberty Media’s entry, he will continue to lead MotoGP.
In an interview with the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the CEO of Dorna Sports was brief and to the point: ‘I didn’t sell anything, I will stay. If Liberty was looking at us, we were also looking at Liberty. It is important for us to have access to their resources and knowledge, to better tell the story of our championship‘.
Ezpeleta hopes that this partnership will create the opportunity to reach ‘places’ that have not been reached yet, and he assured that Liberty Media is pleased with the current management of MotoGP: ‘Liberty is happy with how we manage the company, we will continue with our people, independent of Formula 1‘.
However, age is advancing and the Spaniard is already 77 years old, admitting that sooner or later the time will come to leave: ‘For now, I will stay, but in July I will be 78 years old and, even though I fortunately feel very well, I will not be able to stay forever. But at this point there is no problem, Dorna can be very well with me or without me‘.
