The World Superbike Championship has not had a round in Germany since it was at Lausitzring in 2017… and that could be about to change. At least, BMW intends to do so.
The manufacturer threatens to become one of the dominant forces in the field, aiming for titles with Toprak Razgatlioglu. And, according to the website GPOne.com, it aims for the inclusion of Hockenheim in the calendar. At the moment, this year’s round in Hungary is in doubt and BMW’s management has already suggested this alternative to the WSBK organization.
However, it is not until 2025 that Germany is expected to return to the calendar, with Estoril apparently a stronger option if Hungary falls through. Hockenheim is mainly associated with car races, but it was part of WSBK from 1988 to 2000. After that, two more tracks in Germany hosted the championship: Nürburgring and Lausitzring.
